This Tuesday, we kicked off our new series, “Activate: Journey Through The Book of Acts”. Here are few points from our last event.
(Read Acts 1 – 7)
Whenever I hear stories from my mom of how my aunts and uncles were “back in the day”, I tend to examine myself to find any similarities. As I do so, there’s this feeling of “understanding” that comes over me. Almost like understanding them helps me to understand myself more. Why I may respond to things a certain way, and even why I see life the way that I do. It’s like finding out that your great-great-great ancestors were kings and queens in some foreign land. Upon learning of your lineage, you unconsciously begin walking in the same confidence, boldness, and level as they did…even if you aren’t “royalty”.
The same is with the Word of God. As we learn of the various men and women in the bible, or our “lineage”, we begin to walk in the same confidence, boldness, and reality as they did.
When you know who you are, where your confidence is found, where your peace is…fear and worry won’t have any room to exist in your life. Your identity is found in God! Not in someone’s opinion of you.
As we journey through the Book Of Acts, we want you to keep this in mind:
“It’s not just about who Jesus is to you, but also about who Jesus is THROUGH you! When people encounter you, who is it that they meet?”
Next week, we will pick up from Acts chapter 8.
